A Rose by any other name
My dear old friend Corey and came to stay last night, with Catherine. I have spent many a happy day as his guest out on the Playa and it was nice to have him over here for once.
After a snooze to recover from jetlag, a walk round the town and a stop in a pub, we decided to have a typical English dinner. We went for an Indian.
Corey is of course, great company for dinner. We have so much shared experience and outlook in common that the converstion was so unstoppably intense and entertaining that no-one wanted to pause for a moment to place an order. It was an hour before the waiter could tell the kitchen what to cook.
At the end of the meal, they presented a rose to both Kathleen and Catherine, to which I announced, in my typically unromantic style that:
There are 9 words with the phonetic sound "rose".
Between the four of us, we worked out eight. The last one didn't come to mind until the next morning. And now, after further consideration, the list stands a TEN
