Edingburgh with OcUK

On a whim, we organised a trip to Edinburgh with some of the photographers from the Overclockers form. The place is bursting with photographic opportunity.

The motley crew:

You can't get away from the castle:

The city is full of little footpaths winding through the tall buildings:

Statues and plaques:

I was raised in Edinburgh but never went inside the cathedral before this trip. Magnificent interior and welcoming to photographers on payment of £2 for a permit.

This picture of the organ won me a round of the monthly OcUK competition. It is taken with my new tilt-and-shift lens, to correct the perspective which would cause it to appear to lean back when taken with a regular lens:

The Scottish parliament building and surroundings:

I was particularly pleased with this picture of the Craggs taken from the duckpond outside the parliament and entered it in a competition in Maidenhead. The judge gave it the lowest score of the evening...

Just for fun, I photographed this couple, sat on the side of the Craggs, from the same spot by the side of the pool.

These are the tracks for "The Damned Tram". The city has been in chaos for years as they dig up all the roads to lay tram tracks. They still are not running. Personally, I don't see the attraction of a bus that can't take a detour.
